Have you ever wondered why people study a foreign language for years yet still struggle to use it in practice? For instance, they might want to watch a movie but still can't understand it even after two years of learning. Our analysis of leading language textbooks revealed a significant gap: none of them focus on the most frequently used concepts (among words, grammar rules, etc.). Surprisingly, even after two years of study, these textbooks cover only about 50% of the top 1,000 most frequently used words. This explains why many language learners feel they put in extensive efforts without making significant progress.

We created Lingo Universe to address these issues. We believe that every effort you make learning new concepts (words, grammar rules, etc.) should yield the highest return on your investment.

Lingo Universe is a powerful new system for learning languages. It consists of three major components: Technology, a Language Independent Model, and a Language Specific Model.

Technology

Performance Data: The application tracks your progress, using this data to create your personalized learning path. For example, if you make a mistake, the corresponding concept will be marked for review, and our application will provide related exercises for the next several days to ensure the concept is properly memorized into your long-term memory.
Performance Reports: You always have access to up-to-date reports of your progress. You can focus on concepts that are difficult for you or on those you are learning this week. You control what you learn!
Teaching Algorithm: Our state-of-the-art teaching algorithm ensures you learn the most important concepts based on your personalized learning path, ensuring all concepts are instilled into your long-term memory.
Artificial Intelligence (AI): Our artificial intelligence component customizes the learning experience by analyzing individual progress and adapting lessons to optimize each student's language acquisition, providing personalized feedback, generating targeted practice, and ensuring efficient mastery of the language.

Language Independent Model

Words: Learning a new word requires a similar effort regardless of the word itself. However, the frequency of use varies. We ranked each word based on how common it is in everyday speech. The word with rank 1 is the most frequent. By learning the top 1,000 ranked words, you'll understand 80% of the spoken language and media content. Our Language Independent Model leverages this data to significantly reduce your effort in learning a new language.
Sentences: Our application includes a list of frequently used sentences integrated into our teaching algorithm to accelerate your learning. When you learn a new word, the application provides sentences showing the word in real-life contexts, translated into your native language with precise one-to-one translations to ensure a smooth learning process.
Dialogues: Our dialogues cover all words ranked between 1 and 1,000 and 50% of the words ranked between 1,001 and 2,000. This means that after memorizing these dialogues, you'll understand around 85% of the everyday speech or a movie. We minimized the use of words ranked above 2,000 to reduce the learning effort.

Language Specific Model

Grammar: We translated our grammar materials into your native language to make learning easier.
Exercises: Our grammar exercises are crafted with the most commonly used words in the language. This approach maximizes learning efficiency and accelerates language acquisition.
